Try a 180 T stat. My 470 had a 160, Would open at 160, but would run hotter on street, and a bit more heat soak. 220-230 on shutdown. Changed T stat and now 190 driving, 205 tops heat soak. Ya...

I made baffles for my tin valve covers. JB welded them in with clearance for my 1.65 rollers. PCV in pass head, Filtered breather in drivers. Just fine

I have a shutoff in the inlet to the heater core on my TA And I notice a little cooler engine temps in the heat of the summer for sure. No hot coolant just bypassing back into the pump.
