Olds 12 bolt rear

We've used several Type O rearends over the years.
As pointed out by Bill, it's a 12-bolt cover with 10-bolt guts.
The strength is about comparable to a Pontiac 10-bolt, nowhere near the strength of a proper Chevy 12-bolt.
Value it accordingly....

Any members near Santa Maria, CA ?
I'm trying to do a deal with a seller there who won't ship....
It's a battery charger, so somewhat 'Pontiac related'.
I need someone to grab it from him and take it to a UPS Store.
Thanks!

Probably not the youngest, but definitely in 'the group'.....
I just clicked off the big ' 3 0 ' last month.
I've had my 1970 GTO since I was 17. Dad got me started down the Pontiac path about ten years before that.......
I'm the fifth owner and I have...

That's the high blower motor relay.
The car has A/C.
When you turn the blower onto 'HIGH' speed, that relay energizes and bypasses the blower speed switch and runs a direct circuit from the alternator post to the blower motor.

I think the flashes were still there with my eye...

I'd set the value as if it were a core block and some parts.
Presume that you will have to replace everything as in a normal rebuild.
And if the block is a 500557 casting, that value would drop to close to zero.

Not only is there only one temp sender hole, the exhaust crossover ports will be a mismatch to your heads.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of these on a...

ACDelco C349 caps are still black with brass terminals.
We buy them on Amazon. Last bought some mid-2023.
They are even Made in USA. :)
We use old stock Mallory or Accel rotors with the longer tip when we can find them.

I remember seeing something similar to this when MSD first became popular.
My recollection is a bit fuzzy as this was forty-plus years ago......
My younger brother had a 1977 Nova with a built-up 350 in it. 11:1, big hydraulic cam, Torker, Holley 750, Hooker headers. ...

Check your rockers on that side.
Take out the four bolts and gently lift the valve cover off.
Might see something that has slipped off.......
If not, just wiggle each rocker arm to make sure they're adjusted right.

Never, ever use a 12-point wrench or socket on a stuck bolt.
12-point tools strip things WAY too easily. Just not enough gripping surface.
Dremels or a carbide burr will be a waste-of-time. Been there and done that.
Mgarblik's method is absolutely the...
