KRE Dport head pushrod clearance

I have a set of as-cast KRE Dport heads. Do they have enough clearance in the pushrod slot to use 1.65 rockers? Thanks

It depends a whole lot on what the base circle diameter that your cam is and what the plunger height is in the lifters your running.

I have 2 sets of KRE dport heads on engines from SD Performance and the push-rod holes would have to be elongated to fit 1.65 rockers. You could give KRE a call and ask them about their heads. These heads usually have production numbers on them. Actually if you were to post a pic it may be obvious by the size of the push-rod hole.

I have put 1 .65 ratio rockers on multiple sets of KRE D port heads over the years without any modifications. Never had any issues.

It seems counterproductive to have a pushrod hole that wouldn't support 1.65s or more than X lift. That seems like a 101 failure to me.

So, I don't believe that it wouldn't support 1.65 rockers and more than @.469 lift.

Since there may be confusion, or conflicting info here, contacting the manufacturer would be the best option.

But Gary what length push rods are you running in all of these heads, stock 9.130”?

I did call the manufacturer and waiting for a reply. Thought I'd post here to see what other people's experiences were. Doing the math with a 1.65 rocker my lift will be .628 with the Comp cam currently in the engine.

I remember P-Dude, Ken Keefer stating that the Kauffman "D" ports needed no grinding for higher ration rocker arms. AND that the valve reliefs were in the stock locations. Round port "E" heads had neither.

I wish he still posted, here!

Most of these had hydraulic roller cams with 8.8ish pushrods. But I just completed one with a hydraulic flat tappet and 1.65 roller rockers and used 9.100 pushrods.

I'm sure Cliff tested a set in HPP with no modification with 1.65 the year after they were released.

My set would have been ok with 5/16 pushrod but I'm running 3/8 so needed a little work

Utilizes standard pushrod location for 5/16" pushrods.
Pushrod tubes are designed to accommodate 1.65 rockers without grinding on the heads.
