S-PB65-208303 TH 400 Transmission

Hey guys,
I just pulled a S-PB65 TH400 out of my 69 gto to replace it with my PQ69. This trans was in the car when I got it and just ran it until it was time to change her. The PB it sports NO Vin numbers at all. Odd but unique, also whats wit the S prior to the PB?
The trans worked but was starting to slip and the modulator started leaking thus figured it was time for the change her out.
Im thinking this came out of a Bonneville but not sure on that either. Any help in its history is appreciated.
Thanks,
Brew

The only constructive comment I can make is, if it's out of the Bonneville it will be a long tail 400 which we're in the full size B body Pontiacs

Ah, didnt know that so there goes my theory. Well not sure what it was in originally but would like to know so I can market it correctly.

Here is a picture of her. Any thoughts to what the S stands for?

The case was used in a 65 big Pontiac, which has a 9" tail. I have been rebuilding these for almost 50 years and I have never seen an S before the PB.
does the pan have a heel imprint on it?

Im not sure but will take a pic tomorrow and post it. The second owner is no help since he didnt even know the trans was not original. Also not having a vin stamped (and yes I know the location) is also different for what I have seen in the past. The torque converter is a green color that looks new even though it has been in the car before 1974. I'll take a pic of it as well to share for those following the thread. Thanks again for the input, Brew

Maybe it stands for service replacement.

This was my guess too

Yeah, that would make sense being there is no vin number on the trans case.
Thanks guys and happy Friday!
