64 LeMans Rear End

What rear end options came with the 64 LeMans 326 package?

3.23 was standard with a 3.08 optional for either the 2bbl or 4 bbl LeMans with the 326.

There were a few more options available. Below is from the '66 Pontiac Chassis Parts Manual.

Thank you as well!

My '64 326, 2 bbl, ST 300, had a 2:56 open rear end.

My Le Mans convertible was factory equipped with a 250 hp 326 2-barrel, ST300 2-speed auto and a 2.93 open rear, also has factory air conditioning.

That's kind of what I was afraid of. My '64 LeMans has a 2:56 open. I was eyeing up a 326 LeMans with a bad frame just for the possible posi with higher gearing. But's it's gone from FB marketplace now....=( The search continues.

If anyone is curious, I did a rear end swap this winter. Installed the Yukon 3.55 Duragrip posi. The rear end I pulled out calculated to a 2.78 open. That's from my car which originally was a 215 IL-6 LeMans with a 2-sp Air Cooled AT.

I'll bet it feels like a whole new car!

Oh Yessirrr! I'm about to reach the 100 mile break in and then I'm really gonna let it rip!

:):burnout:

Hope to be much better prepared for Norwalk this year.

might be too late for you but I learned a trick about breaking them in
put the car on lift or good solid jackstands and let it idle in gear for at least 30 minutes.
A buddy that had a trans shop showed me this.

That's a good idea. Too late for my car, yes, but we're also thinking about changing my Dad's out. We can certainly use it for that!
