Sad sight

Remains of a Sprint. No pedals, large hole in the tunnel was probably manual trans. Been sitting so long, valve covers rusted through.

Resto, anyone?:D

Hopefully, but not likely the engine lived on :(

It be cool to salvage the panels and hang them on a Nascar chassis.

That paint should buff right out and I bet it starts with some fresh gas..................

BOB VIDAN 04-09-2021 10:55 AM

Exactly the color of the one we had many, many years ago.

Looks like a V8 in the engine bay.

That's getting recycled right back into the ground from where it came.

That's what happens when good cars hang out with undesirable engines. Front distributor - Buick?

Valve covers rusted through, open carb for at least 20 years, or so it looked. Probably not.

I think Jeff was referring to the OHC 6 it was born with.

What a shame, the car was probably savable for years.

In 1966 my buddy was driving a 4spd tripower 66 GTO and I was driving a 65 4spd tripower GTO. My buddies dad bought fleet GMC trucks from the local dealer so my buddy got to drive whatever the dealer had on the lot. We got to test drive a new 66 4spd Sprint, 2dr hardtop, black vinyl top, martinique Bronze, dressed to the gills. (pun intended),

We were mightily impressed with how the Sprint ran, especially the high revving engine.

About 10 years later, I saw the car sitting up on blocks in a chicken wired fenced-in barnyard lot. It was being used as a chicken coop.

I always liked those Sprints.

I was referring to the OHC 6 which is not there, hoping it still lives in another Cammer somewhere out there ;)

Good eye. She's a Buick.
Could be whoever dropped it in there lacked the the funds or skills to complete the installation, resulting in the long term open crypt state of the car.

Buick 340/350 - most likely a 350 as they were the tri shields mainstay for 13 model years. Yep was probably thrown in there when the cammer failed.

Thinking it had an encounter with the back of a truck or trailer.

As much as I like my GTO, I'd still like my Cammer back..... GTO grills, deluxe parchment interior, 5 speed OD, 3.90 Posi rear....

George
