How annoying is it when....

I go to a few car hang outs, there is always the 1 or 2 guys that ask "Do you know what Pontiac stands for?" then the stupid laugh starts. I looked at this 60 ish year old guy the other day and asked back how old are you? I do not know why it gets on my nerves so much. Just does.

Rant over.

Yup- get tired of it.

I'm definitely not a politically correct person, but that deal is rude and improper!!!

locomotivebreath 09-29-2018 12:19 PM

Wasn’t it a question on the baby boomer quiz ?

salem1912 09-29-2018 12:30 PM

Was with a Pontiac friend when someone asked him, he replied Excitement! And told the guy if he thought differently to just move on.

A response could be: "Are you calling me a ___________________ ?"

This actually brings back a fond memory when it comes up. A few years back me and my pal Bill Dewberry, we called hin Dew -he was a black guy, formerly from Texas, and a Pontiac fan were standing beside my Firebird chatting. A guy walks up and asked if we knew what Pontiac meant. Bill just smiled at him and said, yeah pathetic ols nobody thinks it's a Chevy. Th guy just looked at the ground and shuffled off. Dew and I were laughing our a$$es off at him.

I made, and sold a shirt to answer to that stupid BS "Do you know what Pontiac stands for?"

I've heard that stupid crap since before I had a drivers license.

Front of shirt the emblem is on the left breast area:

Back of shirt:

We sold a bunch of these shirts at Pontiac shows and events in 4 years, 2008-2012. Mary Ann currently has a brand new 2X for sale with her Pontiac T shirts she is currently selling.

Link to Pontiac T shirts for sale in "collectibles for sale" forum: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...97#post5934297

I have probably 3-4 of this particular shirt that I wear everyday amongst the other 14 styles we sold, (my wife says I'm a walking Pontiac billboard). I've never had to answer that question in the last 8 years since I deigned that shirt...…...LOL

Priceless

Try owning a Corvair (hard enough, huh?). Every single guy over 60 who approaches me acts like he's the first one to make a Ralph Nader joke. :) Yeah, good one dude.

I hate all of those stupid definitions, no matter the brand. They all ceased to be clever about the second time someone said them.

Chris65LeMans 09-29-2018 04:08 PM

He wants to look like a know it all, so call his bluff and say “no, I don’t- what does is stand for?”

I answer most questions at car shows like that because their answers can be entertaining. For example: I often get guys pointing at my car ask saying “do you know who designed it?” I’ve been told John Delorean, Harley Earl, etc.

Idk, I always laughed at that joke. I've said it plenty of times, and I own a few of em! lol

The saying is almost as old as Pontiac itself. If you own a Pontiac and something as stupid as a lame joke bothers you, perhaps its time to pick up your panties and move on. Sheesh!

People Often Notice That It's A Car?

It's stupid, not to mention derogatory. After you hear it 10000 times is it funny?
Pick up my panties, don't wear any. Ask your girl! :)

I also like to give them a taste of their own medicine. I also have heard that stupid saying for what PONTIAC stands for for years.
