Anyone know what this is and it's purpose?

Temperature sensor, I think.

It works with the AC somehow.

Blower motor resistors?

dataway 04-10-2016 03:59 PM

It's the blower motor speed control resistors. Pull it off and there are resister coils on the bottom side. It's placed where it is to get air flow from the blower to help keep it cool.

I think the resistor ones are on the lower part of the evaporator housing.

this...^^

maybe clutch cycling switch? if it is what i think it is, should be a round silver disc like thing.

I figured it out, it's checks ambient temp and as long as it's not 32 degrees or below it will remain shorted to provide power to the compressor. Thanks gents, appreciate your help!
