The torque is crazy.

What compression?

Is it a combo of 1.6 / 1.65?

nachomax 03-28-2012 04:52 PM

Sweet!

bankbook 03-28-2012 05:34 PM

Old Man Taylor 03-28-2012 06:34 PM

Good going Bill! Now hopefully it will make it all the way to the track without a freeway break. :)

Nice I have a similiar setup with 290cfm heads and no spacer.Where did it make its most power 30 to 32 degrees?

steve25 03-28-2012 08:57 PM

J.C.you 03-28-2012 09:10 PM

How much does a combo like this usually run to have built from scratch?

those are Carb shop preped/machined metering blocks, its just the color of the pic looks like that, not an e85,here in Ca. e85 forget it,there only handfull e85 stations statewide.

there are many engine builders in this forum ,maybe they can answer that for you.

SnowDevil 03-29-2012 04:01 PM

Thats good news, have almost that same combo sitting in my garage waiting for my firebird to get painted. wonder if the 1" spacer will fit the hood?

garrity455 03-29-2012 09:54 PM

That sounds awesome. I totally want to chasi dyno my new combo to see how it compares to the engine dyno we did.

SnowDevil 03-31-2012 10:28 AM

Any idea what the crankshaft HP would be?

I would guess 525, considering a 18% driveline loss

My guess 540ft/lbs 505 HP at the flywheel with same accessories hooked up.

Cliff R 04-01-2012 09:03 AM

It should be making at least 550hp/600tq at the flywheel. One of our customers dyno'd one with 290cfm KRE heads from SD, a port matched RPM intake, q-jet and 4 tube headers, and made 552hp/604tq. He did the testing at a "Chevy" shop, and was told when he brought the engine in for testing to dump the dual plane intake and Q-jet, because it wasn't going to make any power. He said they were dialing 911 and running for the exit doors when they made the first pull!.....Cliff

Thanks for the info was trying to order a transmission that bumped me into the next price range

SnowDevil 04-02-2012 02:01 PM

was wondering about the dyno before or after? probably an advantage to have it done before I install it that way everything is verified? has 455 .40 over the 290 kre by sd with the matched intake torker 2, 950 pro carb by sd and old faithfull fully rollered. prw 1.65 rockers. HEI going to buy Doug's , anyone know if the 1" spacer will fit on a 72 formy?
Think Im just going to have it ran before I install.
Didnt mean to hijack the thread it just got me excited!
