Cleaning up headers

I pulled the engine and was looking at the headers. They are Hedmans and they have the typical rust all over them.

Is there an easy way to remove and repaint them? I don't want to spend any real money. I could just get a new set.

Also is there any paint that really holds up? What about wrapping them????

Thanks,
Dave

Sandblast them, then clean them with a solvent like brake cleaner, then paint them with VHT Flameproof coating spray paint.....

If you don't have access to sandblasting, a wire wheel works well also. Get the tight spots with sandpaper. VHT makes a paint with ceramic resin that works and looks very nice. Don't forget to prime.
