Here's what NADA says my 73 LeMans is worth....

Click to see the NADA book value for my 73 LeMans.

You think I can get that much for it if the car is cleaned up and in pretty good shape overall? Like, patch/paint the rusty spots(there are only a couple)...replace the torn seats....sandblast and repaint the rally wheels.

The car has about 79k miles and runs like a champ right now.

It's not really for sale right now....just not sure where to post. :D

The NADA book is terrible for late model cars, and even more worthless for a classic car. I didn't even look at their valuation, but I guarantee it is probably 50% high. I don't know of any guide for classic cars that is worth much. People tend to 'overrate' their own cars. A lot of 'Barrett-Jackson' quality cars won't even bring NADA value.

Put it on ebay with a reserve and for $45 or a little more you will get a pretty good idea of what it is worth.

Those guides are a joke. They are rarely close, and usually very low, or very high. They tend to pump up the ego's of those certain clowns who think their cars will sell for those inflated Barrett Jackson type values.

So how do I know what my car is worth then?

I figure it's only worth anything to the one person on the planet that actually wants it, lol. I kind of regret buying it. It'd be a different story if I bought a 69, 68, 67...and so on....but I impulsively bought a rare, one-year car. And It's almost impossible to get parts for it. Even that cool PY parts catalog has nothing for my car.

I might just not fix any of the rotting away exterior, and run it till it falls apart. That way, if I spend less than 2k when it's all said and done, it isn't a total loss on my part if I get a year out of it.
