vinal top option color choice
I have a 70 gto I am restoring by luck I have an upholstery guy who can do the vinal top
The car is pepper green ext / code 256 green interior The vinal top was green The question is what seems better white vinal top or origional green I am all about origional but my only concern is it to much green i am leaning to origional green top I googled and never seen white as a vinal top on hardtop / i am going to check my GTO bible I think black and green were the vinal top choice for 70 no shure but will know in a few hours I would love some oponion as changing the color after the fact is crazy |
IMO, if you are going to change the top's color, you might as well remove it - may even increase value. I am not a fan of Cordova tops and think they only look decent if there is a good contrast between the paint and top. Full disclosure: 2 of my cars have the the top, i don't like the top, but the cars came that way so the top will stay when i restore them...and one of them is triple green.

My thought is a Black top would look better than green, not as hard to keep clean as white either. My pops had a triple green 72 skylark and after he dyed the top black the car stood out nicely.

My very first car (when I was 17) was a triple green '69 GTO w/ cordova roof. I liked the look . . .

Keep you GTO all original and put back correct Green Vinyl top. It will look great! |
I vote original green vinyl top. I can't say I've ever seen a green vinyl top on a '70 GTO, and more and more I'm growing to appreciate things like that that are different/unique. It seems like I keep seeing the same thing at car shows; I like variety, especially if it's how the car was born.
