1971 Firebird - Correct Window Roller?
1 Attachment(s)
Refurbing the windows on the '71 Firebird and had ordered replacement rollers from The Parts Place. The replacements are 2 1/4 +/- long but what I removed from the car are about 1 3/4 +/- long. Which are correct given anything is possible in 50 years? Feedback appreciated. Thanks.

The short one is correct, however, have seen longer ones used as it tends to keep more pressure on the top of the window to go toward the car.

For the hell of it I tried to install the window with the long one…..no go. Too wide to slip through the gap even with outer weatherstrip removed. New parts ordered.

I saw a guy lay window over to do this. May as well get whats correct though.

It’s a tight fit to get the glass in the door with the correct rollers. I don’t see anyway you get it in with those too long ones.

I removed the outer weatherstrip to attempt. Generally speaking, should that weatherstrip be installed before or after the window is in the tracks?

I'll have to check which is supplied in a kit I picked up years ago. I wonder if the regulator parts are available to replace, that are riveted in place, or perhaps just the roller ends.

oK, measured mine overall, also the 1-3/4" of original roller. Mine came from Tamraz's years ago, black roller.
It's part of the AMD W-033 window kit, was available as one lot or separate pieces. https://www.carid.com/auto-metal-dir...mpn-w-033.html W-022 is the rear roller each. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/amd-w-022 |
