im running a dick miller rear susp..no-hop bars,adj.uppers,12 way qa1 shocks & a anti-rollbar. up front 90-10's & moroso spring's i would like to get the car scaled and set up by a local chassis guy but try'ing to explain that this is a big long wheelbase car & that it is heavy(3600lbs).im running a 29.5x10.5 et drag.curious what kind of pinion angle should i be setting it at. with 6"pinion i'v cut a best of 1.35 60" but normaly cut's 1.41-44's 60" 6.05-6.25 in the 1/8.mile the motor makes 600hp & est 200hp on the nos.the motor can handle more nitrous but i cant hook what i got need some advice any + or-.

Believe 72 lemans, you'll be surprised how much 1# will make a difference.
On my big pontiac 1# has made up .10 in the 60' on a poorer track. I'll run 15.5# at my home track but 16-17# at Norwalk. to get the same 60'. I have mine set at 5 degrees. So far best 60' was 1.39. That is with a 10.5 tire and stock upper and lower arms. I did relocate the mounting point (on the rear)on the lower arms.

I have the same Dick Miller suspension, including the anti-roll bar and I run two degrees of pinion angle. The car hooks good and makes about 700 HP. My best 60' is 1.38 with the average around 1.42. The car weighs 3140 with me in it and I have MT ET Drags, 10.5 X 28 X 15 stiff sidewall. The biggest variable in 60-foot time is the density altitude. I average 40-50 passes per pair of slicks.

That's a big car, try a smaller lighter car. Your are pushing the evelope for that much power for a big battle ship. For pinnion angle each car is different. It depends how much rotation your rear has under load. For a four link the range is usually around 3-5 degrees negative.

if ur slicks are getting greasy and on the edge, try swapping wheels around to the other side of car.

6 degrees is too much pinion angle for your car, it would be close on a leaf spring car where the springs wind up and the rear end rotates up in the chassis. in a factory style 4-link application, i would say -2 to -4 degrees. in a "race car" style 4 link -1 degree, and in a ladder bar car -2.5 the closer to 0 the harder it hits the rear tires. do check your tire pressure, tire condition, shock settings, look in the rear suspension for any bind also. that tire is capable of plenty of power. is it a W series?? the tires will start to fade approx. 20-30 passes.

you can use VP tire conditioner or traction compound to squeeze some life from your older tires.

Did you guys see the videos that Jon Burchmore did of his firebird's rear suspension and slick on several launches? That video told the story about how his tire couldn't handle the hit on launch. Very cool research he did with that little camera.
