Crank ID

Can anyone identify what crank this is?
Forged, 3” main. Not sure of stroke. Judging from the numbers on the center throws I’d say it’s a factory crank. |
Post up the wide forging lines on the metal arms that go to the rod bearings.

Cant be that hard to rough measure the front main to narrow it down
|
Very few Forged 3" main cranks from the factory.
Probably a bunch of aftermarket 3" main cranks of different strokes. As dirty as the crank is, I would measure the journals and see what the main and rod journal sizes are. Most dirty cranks are from Ohio. But some could be from other off shore too. Provide more info please. Tom V. |

Mains are 3”
Rods are 2.25” A couple more pics. I’ve owned this for about 30 years and it obviously was quite used when I got it. |
Looks like a Kellog #484646 forged 455 crank with 3 inch mains.
Could this crank have been intended for the Ram Air VI? |
I believe there were some Kellog 3" main 4" stoke cranks made for a possible 3" main RAV428 with 2 fours. Like the intake Beswick had that burnt up in his barn fire.
What was left was sold to aftermarket vendors like Hank the Crank. |

All of my short stroke 366 cranks are Forged Kellogg Cranks.
The forged 400 Ram Air V 400 crank was a forged Kellogg Crank. That crank was finished by Moldex and sold to Marty Palbykin for his 406 Turbo Engine. I owned that crank. The two RA-IV SD cranks 3.75 stroke were forged Kellogg Cranks. Those were the cranks on the RA-IV-SD engines I rebuilt at the dealership. I had a chance to buy a bunch of the 2.84" stroke 303 cranks from Moldex but like a fool passed on the 20 piece lot Moldex had. A few were bought by friends but I do not think ever finished. The Forging line said it all. Thanks and congrats, you have a good one there. Tom V. |
I have owned 3 factory 3in main long snout forged cranks,2 4in stroke and 1 4.21 stroke.Tom

I assume they were all Kellogg Forged Cranks done for Tom Nell/ Herb Adams.
