Another 71 LeMans Sport Convertible
 

Here's some pics of my car. I picked this one up back in '05 in the hood (and I mean THE HOOD) of Cincinnati. It has just about everything replaced or rebuilt in the suspension and had an aluminum headed 455, TH-400 and a 10 bolt posi with some nice freeway gears. It drives very well and the motor got swapped into my '69 gto and a mild cruiser motor(400) went in it's place back in the vert. The color is not original and there is some unbelievable body shop sin under the paint that came to light once I started to redo the body. This has been a on and off project that I now have vowed to have it back on the road for the spring of '12. This car will be a driver first and by no means 100% factory. I appreciate those that are yet this one won't and there will be some modifications.
I have found a build sheet above the tank, yet doesn't look anything like the one I found in my 77 Trans Am or the one that came with the packet from PHS for my '69 GTO. Could someone point me to a site that I can decipher it or help me? I can scan/post if someone feels up to it.
Note the column shift and floor shift/console. I wonder which is original? I have since replaced the column with a floor shift model, added an in dash tach. Car is now getting new rear quarters, wheel houses, partial trunk floor and a whole lot more. I will post more as time allows and progress is made. I do all my own work .. Thanx for viewing... Mike

A few month's ago.....

I wish I had more time to rock on this yet life happens and I get done what I can, when I can. The driver's side is getting buttoned up and I can show a step by step if there's interest. The splicing of the outer wheel houses was the big fun. Anyone who's done it knows the fun in working with TOTAL rubble wheel houses that don't fit well and are only for a hardtop. Includes trunk extentions and a partial floor. The pics of the car together-please note the poorly fitting driver door/quarter gat. This was absolutely unacceptable and is now taken care of. I have worked with sheet metal/fabrication skills for 20+ years(tool and die maker) and this stuff is big fun for me. Mike

Sorry for any confusion. The first 5 or so pics are of the first day she came home and was off the trailer. The color is a gold/copper originally, yet not sure. I'll post the data tag and maybe the build sheet and you folks help me out? H

Well. here's the body tag and the almighty build sheet.
I know the car has: Power steering and power disc brakes, air, am/fm with rear seat speaker which works great, trunk light and under dash lights, black bucket interior, power top. I think the dash had a block-off plate for the clock.
I belive I'm the third owner and I'll post a pic of the cowl area with original paint/color. What shade of gold is this? Anything stand out as unusual? The guy I bought the car from said he purchased it from the perverbial 'little ol lady' and put a E-headed 455 in it with some really fun parts. He rebuilt the entire suspension and had the car painted and ran into hard times. He called the color "stop light green"...LOL. I do know that it's a single stage enamel It is an unusual color that you either like or don't. I'd rather go back to the original color yet I'm not sure about redoing the interior in it's original black. I'm thinking sandalwood. Black is just too much in the daytime sun. Most of the factory air including half the evaporator box and the evaporator itself are long gone. The car came with Hooker round port super comp headers that interfered with the box so it was gone when I got the car. Mike

Scarebird... I also like those Lund scoops on your car. I put a set of those on a '97 chevy truck I had and reminded me of the look of a TA WS6 car when your driving it. I've never been a fan of those on ANY car, yet I bleieve you pulled it off pretty good. I like it.
I'm toying with the idea of a era correct functional shaker yet I'm kinda on the fence with that one. I have decided to keep the chrome front bumper instead of the F41 package which is a costly add on at todays supply and demand prices. I already shaved the front marker lights in the fenders and the door locks. I originally started to redo this car when Overhaulin' was pretty big and I'm a huge Foose fan, yet I'm happier now that I'm toning it down more. Hey, I had plans to shave the doors and have a door popper kit in it, loose the wheel well trim and rocker chrome, air ride system, 18"s in the front and 20"s in the back....Anyway... More stock appearing please. Why mess with a good thing, right? Mike

Data sheet shows prop shaft as manual or TH400 only - 400 car! As YX engine code confirms.

Scarebird, thanx for the info and your time. I like your aircleaner set-up. Any pics of the underside of your hood for this?
Good to know my car isn't as plain jane motor wise yet the colors....Well, I was hoping for tropical lime or Quezal Gold(first choice) yet the dark green top is interesting. I had considered putting a tilt in it when I first acquired the car and now I know I need to. That explains the column shift set-up. Looked kind of confusing in the pic, didn't it? I also know it came with a drivers side remote mirror that will give way to a set of sport mirrors I've had for some time and for just such an occasion. I'll post some pics up a little later...Mike
