Hey everyone, I have a 1970 Catalina Convertible and i am interested in doing a rear disc brake conversion. Has Anyone here done one? If so who did you go thru? Or does anyone know the answers for the pictures as far as dimensions and axle offset? Thanks for your time in advance I'm out of town currently but wanted to get started when I get home.

Scarebird sells a kit for adding disk brakes to the rear: https://scarebird.com/index.php?rout...&product_id=80 You buy their brackets, and then use commonly available rotors and calipers you can get from the local parts house.

edit: You better check with them to make sure on the application - the header says the kit works for up to 1970 cars, but the text says only up to 1964. Scarebird is a member here, he may see this post and elaborate.

Yes I have contact them. Thats what made me contact them because they headline saying they fit up to the 70 but when i read the description and they state otherwise.They sent me the picture saying they need the measurements. Trying to see if maybe someone had the measurements on hand.

I ended up installing a system on my '70 that is based on the '94-6 Bbodies.
There are some pics in the thread above. I've since completed the install
using all stainless replacement brake lines and an LS1 Fbody style aluminum
master cylinder. The improvement in pedal feel and overall braking is just
amazing - really happy with the results.

Interesting, I will have to look into this. Thanks ScottP, how much did all this cost in the end? My only problem will be finding someone with a lathe near me.

Cost will vary quite a bit, depending upon the condition of the donor '94-6 rear,
and how much you're able to get from the local you-pull-it yard.

In my case, I got the rear free from a local friend, and was only able to salvage
the backing plates and ebrake shoes from it. Everything else was worn/rusted
beyond use.

I bought the rotors, calipers, abutment brackets, pads and soft lines new from
Rock Auto and Amazon - all ACDelco stuff. That was ~$200 at the time.
