Early dash

So, I started removing what little is there out of a '74 Firebird parts car I bought. This one, like another I have, has no casting marks on the inside. Were there different manufacturers or are these just early ones? This new one also had this inspection sticker attached. Also has this once beautiful dash bezel before adding hole for something and butchering a hole for insetting a tach.

The majority of the 71-77 dash pads that I have pulled are marked made in Canada.......and have a date code and PN

Davidson rubber is/ was about 5 miles from here. I have friends who worked there. They mostly made the Square body GM truck dashes. But also Firebirds too. I remember going there a few times to see it all, and they had a Lot Of IBC totes Full of " Blems" . Many if the imperfections were slight. But in an obvious place. They kept them to use as write offs for taxes, then ran over with a loader, and put in dumpster in May of most years. Davidson did some work on steering wheels too. They had their own rail terminal on B&M which shipped and received a lot of product in its day. Was a nice place to visit if you had connections. But very very dirty. Shaved Rubber and foam and oil from machines lingered in the air. I have seen a bunch of Bird Dashes made there, but 80 % are from Canada, and I am thinking eastern Canada.

Thanks Bruce.

This is a '70 dash, going by the glove box door frame. I'll try to show the difference in grain patterns using the doors.
