My 65 gto evidently never had the rear window guides installed at the factory. when i took it apart they were not there. i found some on craigslist and went to install them and there is no holes. so i guess there was some foul up at the factory that wasnt taken care of under warranty. I have included some pictures and if anyone can tell me i am wrong please enlighten me. Thanks

Have a 65 post car as well. Has been years since I had the rear panels off, but I am certain that my car does not have those braces. Car was built the last week of December 1964 at the Pontiac MI plant... Question for you. Do your windows hang up if you put them all the way down? Maybe the brace was a later year fix to that problem.

window guides

My car was built 2nd week of November at Pontiac. yes the windows hang up everytime. the guides I bought came off a 64. the reason I didn't install them is because I don't know where the holes go. the cars with the guides don't work well either. I can let the windows down using my hand to help.

On my '64, which is the same as a '65 post coupe, there are no guides as you picture for the rear quarter windows. Mine work fine.

The key is to adjust and lubricate the rollers and roller channels with white litium grease and adjust the channels so the window moves freely without the mechanism attached.

Be aware that the upper rear channel/guide is different for '64 and '65. The attachement point for the rear of the channel to the inner fender is where the difference is. I think you could use them interchangeably, but not without drilling holes for attachment. You could only determine where if you have the '65 channel to use as a pattern.
