This page has some pictures and info that might be useful to you.

Yes ,
The pics really help. So the wire that plugs to the fuse panel powers the relay .

Thanks for that

This car has power locks also . so far they only unlock . I don't have seats in yet . So I'm thinking the seats work with locks . may need to install seats to search issue that out

murphc4 01-15-2022 06:36 PM

The seats on some later models had a switch for the seat belt light, but nothing else.
If your locks only work one way then most likely it's either the contacts on the switch, or the solenoid itself is worn out.

I have a pair of solenoids and they work on the bench, but they aren't strong enough to lock the doors.

Locks are independent of seats. The PDL actuator is a 2 way Solenoid so reversing the Hot is what unlocks or locks the door.
Only one direction usually means a switch issue if its both doing same thing.
Newer cars use a stepper motor and a worm gear thats much lighter, more reliable and uses way less current.
Easy to upgrade and not seen.

my seats lock and un lock with a door jam contact . like the dome light does.

Formulabruce , i looked at the ones from Ames . If i don't get these to operate correctly . I will go in that direction .Do you have experience with there's.

the locks worked on the bench . But don't even make a noise in the car . I will switch the wires to see if its the switch . Are those switches available ?

thanks Don

I have never seen a 70 F body with door switches for the seat Locks, BUT I have seen provisions for it.
I run a MES system and use a remote to keep keys off the car.( door locks) This can be wired with the dash switch, or without.

cool info. I researched this on a few 70 model birds in the past that had switches and wiring, but no seats.
I do know this, the newer motor/worm gear door lock units work much better
and use less power and weigh much less than the heavy Solenoids.
Yours seats have the solenoids in them still?
