Those black rims look good against that color. Going with poverty caps?
How about that Quickjack? Pretty nice isn't it? |
Looks like the T-handles were the order of the day!
|
Yes the Quick Jack has made my life many times easier. Well worth the money, in fact lots of things are easier laying on your back than I think they would be standing up, craning your neck to look up, or having to lift things way up to install.
To answer your question on the Dog Dish .... taken last summer. https://i.imgur.com/0d8RErp.jpg |
That's going to be a great looking car!
My present '68 had the tee handle when l aquired it and l took it off right away. The original ball is much cooler lMO and l found mine in the console. |

Here's mine when I put on the dog dish and steelies. Same exterior/interior color as well
|
Yep, that's what I'm shooting for, an understated, serious look.

Stumbled on the right search terms ... there are ton of them on ebay, including perforated. Bid on a couple of them. Doesn't appear there is any shortage of NOS covers out there.
|
Any in Aqua/Turquoise?
|
Looked like most were black or tan/brown.
I just searched "Vintage steering wheel cover" I bet you could paint one with the interior paint. Make sure you go for the "sport" covers ... I think the "cushion" covers are all puffy looking. I also see a place selling brand new perforated brown ones for a reasonable price. |
Since I know you've dealt with the dual gate shifter, have you replaced the neutral starter switch? If so, which one did you buy? Mine now only allows me to start the car in neutral and not in park.
Thanks Old Joe |

Yep, I replaced it with one from Amazon which seemed to be the exact same one everyone else was selling.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C7ZQ2I...roduct_details It did require modification ... I'm not sure that anyone is actually selling the correct switch with the extended terminals bent at a 90 degree angle. ... better than trying to describe what I did I'll run down and take a photo. The backup light switch tabs I just bent down at an angle. For the neutral switch I bent them at 90 degrees with enough to use a spade terminal. Since my original neutral switch plug was pretty toasty anyway .. I removed it and put on the spade terminals which worked with the new switch nicely. I'm guessing you already tried adjusting the switch you have? Sometimes slop in the shifter, cable etc. cause the switch to need adjustment. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...6&d=1649106015 https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...7&d=1649106021 |
Just happened to notice this NOS one a few minutes ago. Price seems reasonable... Assuming he's not one of those $50 shipping guys...

Here is the real deal ... 68 GTO, console switch. They are a single year part.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/265331810745 And another one. I ran across one of these when I needed one .... couldn't justify the price. https://www.ebay.com/itm/16478664280...8AAOSwMbdgYUEy |
Oops... Didn't notice the one l posted was for column shift. Now that I see the right one I remember those 90° prongs
