Anyone collect old Hemmings Motor News issues?

I'm looking for an ad for a 1972 Formula that appeared in Hemmings Motor News in the mid-1990s. Does anyone happen to collect old HMN issues?

I believe the ad appeared in the 1995 to 1997 timeframe. If that's something someone has and is willing to look up for me, I'd appreciate the help! Send me a PM for details.

Thanks. We're now thinking the ad was in Smoke Signals. Now to find someone with those from 1997!

Most likely have all the '97 Smokes, Rocky, it wasn't till a little later that powers that be brought in the d@mn pickups that I gave up on POCI. Can ck by end of the week, back issues are all boxed up.

Thanks, guys. I feel it could be anywhere between 1995 and 1998, but the former owner recalls selling the car in 1997. He believes it was in Smokes, but Hemmings Motor News also comes to my mind.

The car is a Springfield Green ‘72 HO Formula. The sellers phone number began with area code 402. He may or. May not have included the exterior color in the ad.

Thanks to anyone willing to look!

Well I looked through them in the order of 1997, 1998, 1996, 1995 ... and found this one in the 48th issue I looked at (of course....). January 1995. Is this the one you're looking for? Given the seller's location...., I'm guessing yes.

The only other 72 HO Formula in those 48 issues was an Anaconda Gold one in August 1998, in Canada.

That is the first time I have dug those old issues out since they went in the box, I think. Man were there are lot of interesting cars for sale in those days. Seemed like half the issues were consumed by the classifieds. I avoided turning it into an all-night rabbit hole, but did see a 1970 T/A with only 9K original miles advertised for $18K. Wonder where that is now...

That’s it!!!! Thank you, Keith!

Can you send it to me in a higher-res format? You can email it to me at Rocky@PontiacV8.com. Otherwise, PM me for my phone number and you can send it via text message.

So where is the car now?

Rocky Rotella 05-03-2024 04:19 PM

I'm hoping to determine that. I'm following leads on who may have owned it and/or own it today. If I only had a VIN...

emailed higher res pics to you, Rocky. Let me know if they didn't come through. The quality of the photo of the car isn't great mostly because of the photo printing method in use at the time, unfortunately.

Thank you, Keith! I received the email. The photo quality works just fine for what I need.

muscle_collector 05-05-2024 02:00 PM

are you hoping to find and but the car?

Rocky Rotella 05-05-2024 09:51 PM

Not necessarily, but who knows. I was reminiscing about it recently and thought it would be a good article to write about on my website at www.PontiacV8.com. I spoke with several of its owners during the 1980s and 1990s and have many details. I'm not sure where it is today, however, (or if even still around) and am actively searching for its VIN. I'm hoping its still out there somewhere!
