Part Identification Help

Can someone give me an idea as to what this part is, and where it is supposed to be located? Car is a 1974 Formula 455.

This is off the top of my head, maybe for the seat belt interlock thingy on the fenderwell?
(I'd have to look at my info for sure)

Don't remember anything like that though.

What does the tag say?

You might be right. This part and connector are located in the vicinity of the '74 only seatbelt interlock override. The interlock system was defeated at some point in this car's past, like many other '74s I am sure.

The tag says:

MITO CORP. 50-5170GTEMP
GENTEX TEMP HARNESS
C&G 5/12/04

I believe that this tag identifies the protective sleeve over the two green wires.

Anyone have any more information that they can share?

Does it have a fancy rear view mirror or similar with digital temperature readings on it, or perhaps similar gauges for ambient air temp, engine temp, AC etc?

As a matter of fact, the previous owner installed a Mito Mirror some years ago. I think you have very likely solved the mystery. I'm currently working on a radio project under the dash. I will see if I can find these wires and if they route up to the mirror. Thank you very much!

Just to close this out, the part in question is the ambient temperature sensor for the Mito Gentex mirror. I found this picture online. Also, I traced the wires. They are routed to the installed mirror. Thanks to all who replied.

I added the same mirror and sensor to my 1976 Firebird. I routed my sensor to the top of the grille to get a good outside temperature reading.

That's a good idea, thanks. That has to be better than dangling loosely down by the firewall. That's where I found mine.
