Nifty Pic

saw this in the local paper a few weeks ago. While it is about a beauty pageant winner getting a new ragtop the car right behind it caught my eye, the wing and the trim ring less Rallye's make me wonder... Is it a GT37? Can't be a Judge because no eyebrow stripes.

BTW, the building was originally built as a Studebaker dealership and it's still there today but now a yoga studio or something, still has the Studie logo on it.

vehicle in the background is definitely a '71 1/2 GT-37 w optional D80 rear spoiler.

Do you know the name of the Pontiac dealership?

That is a cool pic!

What city is that in? Portland?

What is behind the rear of car, a Firebird? (nose looks off though)

:)

Couri Pontiac in Portland Maine, right downtown.

Car in back of the convertible is a 71 1/2 Ventura II (Nova). There is another one behind it in the showroom too.

Here is the building now…

Did a map search of the address. It does show it there.
OPH, the blurb at bottom says Couri Motors, the pic shows Couri Pontiac (and maybe Mtrs?)

I'll add this to my database. Anyone know the dealer/zone #?

:)

Should have read the caption. Between looking at the Pontiac emblem in the grille of the LeMans Sport convertible & my mind wandering "Damn that girls got some long legs..."

I checked in my PHS database and the ultimate GTO list and I can’t find it. Actually only 2 cars out of 1,100 are from Maine. Low population and 12 months a year of corrosion inducing salt!

I wonder what became of that girl, she’d be in her early 70’s by now! Lots of tall people from Maine, must be all the potato farming, cod and lobster!

Looks like shes on FB,,,,Allyn Warner Gamble. Looks like quite a career. We've got some beautiful women in Maine.
some of the hubcaps back in the day were pretty ugly though,,,,can really take away from the overall looks. If ever on Forest ave stop in at the great lost bear,,,good food and drink IMO.

Another link: (not FB)

This little bit of trivia sure shows the double edged knife of the internet. So much knowledge available to everyone can be an incredible benefit to mankind...
or not.

Ultimate GTO list is unfortunately fraught with errors. They list this dealer as 'Court'.

I don't list the dealer code for it, either. Couri was in biz (at the same location) at least as far back as 1945.

Looks like a 67 LeMans Sprint Hardtop in that picture, three or so years old at the time, probably just in on trade.

scott70 09-23-2022 07:54 AM

Cool pic!!
