Oil Filter woes

Changed the oil in my Pontiac. They did not have the normal filter that I use. I was told that the AC Delco PF35 would fit. It looked like a good fit while laying on the floor installing it. I now have a puddle of oil on the garage floor that proves that it doesn't fit. The rubber seal on the filter fits just outside of the filter flange on a 389. What a mess! Rolled the car back, used laundry detergent and the garden hose to clean the floor. I will probably need to do it a few more times. before the floor is clean.

The person who told you a pf35 would work in place of the needed PF7 or PF24 should give you a refund on that filter and give you a free qt of oil.

Bosch 3423 filter will work.

PF35 is a Chevy filter. Always, always double-check what you're installing by comparing to the old part! This could have been a disaster for the engine besides just the mess.

I have been using a WIX 51042 filter (napa 1042) filter and seems to work fine. It is also fairly small so easy to clear dougs header and quicktime bell housing.

I was trying to keep the oil filter an AC Delco for the points judging. I did get a NAPA GOLD 1049 that fits correctly. Topped off the oil and started the car. Oil pressure came up to normal level and no leaks or bad sounds.

Paint it & get the replacement decal to look correct,

I know you want to keep a ac filter but if it’s a modern ac filter that looks a nothing like a original filter what’s the difference? They will let you have a incorrect filter as long as it says ac for judging?
