Got my info packet from Canada

I got the option sheet back in like 1986 when pontiac was still doing it but since my car was a Oshawa built car I decided to get their info on it. On some additional info they sent the saddle interior was not recommended with the mint turquoise exterior.

I like the mint/ saddle combo, very unique, I'm surprised to see a close ratio trans with a 3:31 rear, I thought it'd be the wide ratio with a deeper 1st gear?

Nice color and 69 stripe car. Don't see many with the 69 stripe.

I recently seen a mint green 1970 GTO sell in Calgary Alberta Canada and it had red interior also said the color combination was not recommended. I could probably find a link on that car it won many restoration awards including world of wheels award.

Im used to the 2.20 first gear but I think it would be more pleasant to drive if it had come with the M20 trans. Not sure why pontiac chose the M21 with the 3..31 gears . I believe chevelles also came that way with some 454s. Taking off on a steep hill can be tricky without riding the clutch excessively. I think the saddle and mint go decent together. Well,,,,it also has its share of dark saddle on the inside too.

1970 GTO in Mint Turquoise with Saddle interior is drop dead beautiful color combo.

With GM, I always thought the M21 came with 3:73 and stiffer gears, but, guess I'm wrong. Anyway, sounds like a COOL GTO!

I guess they thought with the extra torque of the 455 they would use the m21 with the 3.31 rear,,,still I think they should of used the m20.

With the drivetrain,,exterior and interior combination and 69 stripe I dought to many rolled out like this one. I believe only 700+ gtos in 70 were painted mint turquoise.
I sent the original owner a pic of the car a couple of weeks ago,,,she loved it. She only lives like 50 miles from me. She's the one sitting in the car in my sig pic from 1970.

That is a beautiful GTO. FWIW the vast majority of 1970 L75 4-speed cars I have seen docs on were optioned with the M21 , not the M20. And, yes, there are many, many SS454 Chevelles out there originally equipped with the close ratio Muncie and 3.31s

Thank you! Yes the m20 wasn't available with the 455 but I think they should have.

Yep,,,vintage is still doing it. Thanks! Back in the day I probably would of ordered black on black but the mint and saddle are unique and mostly pleasing to the eye. Talking to the original owner,,,she was 18 at the time and her father let her pick it out and got a brand new car for her high school graduation!

Sounds like a COOL triple green judge! Post some pics if you'd like.

Anyway to look at he GM option sheet and see if was ordered by a customer or was built according to maybe the dealer? I really don't know how that works.

johnta1 02-06-2022 05:57 PM

For the PHS sometimes one can tell if it was ordered by customer or for zone use. Not real sure if can tell if dealer or customer ordered.

Don't know if this helps or not.

The 'P1A327058' in lower right corner shows it was dealer/customer ordered. The '1' after the 'P' is for Oshawa plant, the 'A' is for GMAC financing the dealer used to pay for the car.

If you have the build sheet from the car, they sometimes say 'Customer Order' on it.

(this is a Baltimore plant sheet)

:)

scott70 02-07-2022 01:10 PM

Thank you! There was only a little piece of the of the build sheet left. I was hoping there was another on top of the gas tank but there wasn't.

scott70 02-10-2022 11:02 AM

I have yet to see or read about another 70 gto mint turquoise with saddle interior.

johnta1 02-11-2022 08:06 AM

It looks like saddle wasn't a recommended color for your color.
It would probably be very low volume use.
