64 no console shifter boot orientation

Next on the agenda is putting in the shifter hump and shifter boot. I'm assuming the boot goes directly on the hump metal, the carpet goes over that and the chrome trim ring goes on top of both. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Then the last question is, what is the orientation of the boot and trim ring? Does the one more blunt corner go toward the front toward the glove box or to the rear toward the driver? This way: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1&d=1405202785 Or this way: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...1&d=1405202838 |

Both ways you show are incorrect.
Factory installed the ring and boot horizontally as seen in 64 sales brochure and same for 1965 as seen in second pic. I have better pics somewhere? The single rounded corner to bottom right. |

Here's how the shifter boot is oriented.

Ha! Would have never guessed it went that way. Glad I asked!

Agree, even with a console it should go that way.
