Sorry I don't have pics but I just ordered a hood from them. Did you get std or the 2" raised hood? Did you go hood pins or latch? I'm interested in pics, especially around the scoops. I got the raised hood and plan to use pins without a latch

i got the 2" raised hood bolt on type. When it said "bolt on"i assumed it would have the hole wear it locks to the latch reinforced with a metal piece. I am going to cut that piece out of an old lemans hood i have and glass it in so i can use the latch. I'll take some pics of the scoop area and try to post them. Never put pics up before so bear with me it might take a while. I'm not real good at this computer stuff lol. Peter

On mine I sent Glasstek the metal latch part from an old rusty hood and they molded it in the hood that way I can latch it normal and no hood pins. I got the springs from them to, thought I was going to loose a nut putting them on but it went OK.

Here's pics the OP sent me in case anybody else wants to see them

Yeah, I cut the openings out on mine and put the chrome strip on the back edge. My son and I did other mods to like adding the L88 air box to it making it full time RA. (his idea) works great.

GTO JONES what did you guys do with the grill by the windshield? Pics?

GTO JONES 10-26-2021 01:36 PM

We left it like alone, I thought about cutting it . I have a lot of pics for some reason I have difficulty getting them on here.

I bought their springs for my '71 hood. They would not keep the hood open and were too light for my hood. I ordered a pair of heavier springs from NPD and they work fine. NPD has a light spring for small A body glass hoods (Chevelle) and a heavier spring for the long 442 and GTO hoods. Not sure where '68 falls but I suspect it is shorter and lighter than the '71.

Here's my Glasstek hood on my '71. The body shop cut the openings, filled the reveals on the fake scoop inserts and installed the mesh grilles I made up that match the bumper. The hood was none too smooth as delivered either.

NC, that looks great. I especially like the mesh material. It looks like it would be stock. Very nice!

Thanks! Used 442 hood locks … my original hood popped open at about 75 mph. I didn’t want to repeat that thrill ride and was concerned about no louvers at the back of the Glasstek hood for air to exit from underhood.

NeighborsComplaint 11-05-2021 09:39 AM

To the OP, you hood scoops are much better than what the did on my ‘71. Your reveal line is deeper and will look fine when painted and your louvers can be drilled and at the ends and opened with a router or Dremel. On mine they didn’t even cast in the louvers and the reveal around my scoops was too shallow. My painter tried to leave them and they filled in with paint and looks a mistake. I made him strip the hood, fill the reveals and repaint. Within a year, I got bulges in the hood surface at all the hood crossmember locations and had to strip and paint it again. Tried to get Glasstek to cover it and the told me to pound sand as all fiberglass hoods shrink over time.
