67 LeMans pass fender repair?

1 Attachment(s)
Got the pass fender off the Lemans the other day. The upper rear mounting ear is totally rusted off. The plan is to find a donor fender and splice in what I need, which I think is the inner brace and the fender flange in this area. See picture.

The car is a '67. Is a '66 fender the same in that area?

The same.

Thanks!

Can somebody measure the location of that mounting ear on the fender? I could fab a replacement if I could get measurements from the rear edge of the fender to the center of the hole in the ear. I also need to know how far the center of the hole is from the inner edge. That would give me X and Y dimensions for locating the mounting ear.

99.9% of the time, the other side is a reverse image. Also, it's a fairly easy fab job.

I didn't want to assume it was the same as the other side, as sometimes it's not. Are you guys confirming it's in the same location as the driver's side? I've got 2 drivers fenders I can measure.

You're over-thinking this. It IS in the same location as the driver's side. Also keep this in mind, GM was not perfect when positioning parts before welding them together. If they were, we wouldn't have a need for fender shims on these cars. And if they were identical side to side, you would use the same number of shims on one side as you do the other, but that's rarely ever the case.
So if you discover after your repair that each side requires different shim thicknesses, don't sweat it. GM didn't.

I wouldn’t go off of measurements. I would install it and set my gaps the tack it in place.

Update... I'd like to thank 6d7gto for the section he cut out of a fender he had. I finished grafting it in early this month, primed it with epoxy and it came out great. I'll post pics when I have time.
