70 GTO ram air IV on ebay

NICE color combo, this auction is strange..no reserve and not near enough description for such a rare car... column shift for a ram air iv? can't see any gauges or tach..matching #'s? all in all just strange but wow rare car indeed!

wovenweb 09-05-2011 12:27 PM

Why would it have a regular air cleaner on it? Seller notes it needs a Ram Air set up.

OVERULD 09-05-2011 12:31 PM

Good points Forrest - very intersting car. Wish seller had posted some photos of interior. Not sure how you restore a car with that pedigree and put that one nostril breather on it

BJ

Sandalwood top and interior, pretty nice combo!

Forrest 09-05-2011 02:32 PM

I'll buy it for 25k.... no bids yet....wazzz up?? Reckon he didn't want to spend the 1000.00 for the ram air set up..not sure if it even has the hood parts or not?

Forrest 09-05-2011 02:38 PM

car has to be worth 60-80+ totally restored in today's market, any thoughts on that?

Forrest 09-05-2011 02:40 PM

of course #s matching would help, very rare to have an original ram 4 in any case. Most eventually got a rod thru the side of the bock.

I'm with BJ on the breather, at least a dual snorkel and a vent tube would be fairly decent - or even aftermarket chromie. Its had some miles put on it since rebuild going by exhaust port paint on the head. And they appear to be RoundPorts too ! Maybe just something he slapped on it to look more stock'ish for the pics. just weird lol

Has the right exhaust manifolds instead of headers.
Would have been a poverty cap steel wheel car.
Non-console bench seat is a trip.
Pretty wild / unusual car. I like it.

Thats an American PHS Invoice for a Canadian car.
The GM of Canada history report would have been better document to buy.
And would be a double cross check reference for engine block originality (EUN# vs. VIN#).

Looks like a pretty strait up original car in most respects.
Hope it has a lot of born with drivetrain intact.

I didn't see any sign of an interior Ram Air cable pull / bracket.
Would be an extra wild factor of craziness if it was an Induction delete car
Not that i've ever heard of or seen one ... just saying

Judge273 09-05-2011 05:38 PM

I am not sure, but I remember this being a members car? Dan McKinnon?? It was rare and wanted some big coin if same...

Ram4king 09-05-2011 07:30 PM

Thats what I thought. You guys must alerted Greg to it because I beleive he bought it today. If it was Dans car then he nust have died or something because he wanted 125k for it

still for sale.......so what will it go up to:eek: with no reserve... yet

Judge273 09-05-2011 07:55 PM

Must be twins....Listing ended as I saw?

Forrest 09-05-2011 08:09 PM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...6a037bda#v4-39 still there

Baron Von Zeppelin 09-05-2011 08:14 PM

Yeh it says ended due to being sold.
I was going to mapquest Stafford Va tonight - and maybe go see the car in person just for kicks if not too distant.

Wouldn't be surprised if Greg did buy it. He gets most of the IV's one way or another.
On the bright side, we'll be able to get more info when it hits back on eBay via Greg.

Is he still suspended from here ?

Forrest 09-05-2011 08:27 PM

Yep ended, went to the bids and says "ended" sure would of loved to see it run it's course!

intense 09-05-2011 08:32 PM

Looks like it ended !

Uncle Judge 09-05-2011 10:16 PM

That is/was Dan McKinnon's car. It was in Hemmings maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Dan bought it out of Canada for a VERY reasonable sum. I was actually the first caller on the car at that time but the column shift automatic and the location killed it for me. I probably should have bought and sold that one.

If That was Dans car Then how do you explain the price drop of 100k? It has to be worth more than that isnt it?? Is this the end of Ram IV's being worth more than Ram III's?
