Trying to figure out how to remove fan switch

My fan only worked on one speed. Wondering how to remove switch without breaking something.

I tried pulling the part you push with your finger to adjust fan speed, but it's either stuck or not meant to be removed.

I'd check the heater resistor first for open elements.
Which speed is working?

If only the high speed is working, chances are it’s the resistor.

It's been a while since I took it out of the car. I had a spare that I installed, but I think the second speed was not working. Thanks

If everything thing is working with the spare switch, then it’s not the resistor.

I just changed one on my 70 GTO project. That part that you are talking about has to come off to remove switch. Using a pliers I wiggled it off very slowly. Chances are it will crack. I cracked the first one I did. Luckily my parts car had one and I was able to wiggle it off with no damage. Ames might sell new ones. Good luck.

Thanks, I found the part. I'll try to get the chrome/plastic end off without breaking.

True. Prior to posting this I didn't even know about the resistor. Learned something new. Again lol.

Wouldn’t hurt to take a look at the resistor. Should be on the right side of the AC suitcase near the POA valve. . Two screws hold it in.

If a heater car, it’s located on top of the heater housing inside the car.
