I like that welder. A guy I know has it, and he has found that he NEVER Uses the Stick welder. Great price though.

Looks like you're willing to spend some money. My first recommendation is the Miller 211. I have owned mine for over 12 years and has had miles of wire through it. It gets used almost daily in a commercial environment(restoration/fabrication shop). This welder will do anything from butt welding autobody sheet metal to single pass welding HSST tubing for structural projects. If you only want to do autobody welding the Miller 110v unit would be perfect and save you a couple bucks. I am not a die hard tool snob by any means but this machine is responsible for paying the bills and it has served me very well.

I'm no expert by any stretch, but I have spent some time welding with Miller and Lincoln Electric welders. Generally speaking, I prefer Miller over Lincoln. But if I was buying a general purpose welder just for occasional home use, I'd take a good look at the Vulcan series from Harbor Freight. They have a very good reputation, and are a more affordable option that makes a lot of sense for the home weekend warrior.

I second the Miller 211. The new ones are 115 volt and 220 volt.

Another vote for the Miller 211... you can bring it home and plug it in next to the toaster....and weld.

Yep, or go with the Miller 212 Auto Set. That's what we have used for almost 9 years. Bullet proof.

I own a Miller Autoset I bought used, and love the adjustability.
If I had to buy new, the value for the money goes to Eastwood though for a hobby user.

One consideration for choosing a Lincoln vs. Miller/Hobart vs. everything else is consumables. Can you get contacts tips or nozzles on a Saturday if you need one? Lincoln and Miller/Hobart are generally available in lots of places like Home Depot, TSC, etc.

First MIG welder I had was a rebranded Century unit and these parts were not always easy to get. Now have a Hobart that shares parts with Miller (same parent company) and the consumables are easy to get. I have no idea what Eastwood and the other machines are using but would want to make sure I could easily get these parts locally before buying.

Miller 211 gets my vote. I've welded all types of materials with 220 - 110 volts with no problem. As stated previously, consumables are readily available just about anywhere. My next choice would be Hobart.

I think maybe what he was trying to say, for home use it may not be cost effective to buy an expensive unit that may only be used once or twice a year because your not working it hard and your not making money with it so a lower priced unit might be a better choice unless you have a money tree out back.
