Pontiac Log style modular header

Has anyone tried these Turbo headers? It says its for "Air Boats" however I dont see why they would not work for vehicles... as long as it leaves room for accessories.

Nope
Built my own a year ago |
Actually ordered some today. I'll let you know. They'll be going into a second gen T/A

Looks very nice! If they fit.
|
I could have them made by my Fabrication Shop cheaper than $1600 and made using one of my blocks and heads. But they are very nice looking, and I already have a set made by Turbo455 years ago. (that fit perfectly)

I really like the modular part of it all... Cant wait to see how you get it all built up... I hope they leave room for AC and the rest of the accessories... SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM |

Cool, Erik. What was the price? $799 or $1600? |

Ill purchase them once I'm ready to mock everything up... SPEED SAFE, NICK |
$799 is a very good deal for a PAIR of stainless manifolds,
Could not tell if the add was saying one piece or two pieces. The first link shows ONE header, not TWO Headers and the Number of parts says ONE Why I assumed 1600 for a SET. Tom V. |
Personally,I can't see any benefit of these over a set of decent cast factory manifolds or the Ram Air type cast headers at half the price, especially on a street car. I used a set of ordinary cast iron manifolds many years back on a budget turbo combo, I reversed the manifolds so the outlets were at the front and made a short J pipe to the turbos.
|
I was looking at the Ram Air type however could not tell what position they would land the outlets... And I cant afford to buy a set only to find out they do not work. Topped off with the fact that you are literally the first person to date to say they do work reversed (That I know of).
Do you have any pictures of them installed? Where do the outlets land? One thing I like about the Stainless ones is the fact that they are "Modular" connected with V-bands... I dont need to pay anyone to weld me any custom exhaust pluming. So there is that... If you have any pics of the Ram Air headers installed I would honestly love to see them. Thats what I was searching for when I ran across these. SPEED SAFE, NICK |

I like the basic design, with two headers for $799 you are at the bottom of the $$$ scale for that kind of fabrication work. I have had a lot of stainless fabrication work done over the years at McLaren Racing, Watson Engineering, and Technosports. I did not pay for it, my old employer did.
Thanks for the updated info. Tom V. |
Air Ram, I used ordinary factory cast iron manifolds reversed-I don't think the Ram air manifolds were out then, it was over 20 years ago so I don't have any pics, sorry. The manifold outlets pointed down and came out near cylinders 1 & 2, I had the T4 sized turbos set up in front of the engine and used 2" 'J' pipes to the turbine housings. This was in a European car so I can't say how they would fit in your car, but later on when I switched to naturally aspirated,I swapped a set of Hedman headers side to side so that I could bring the 90 degree collectors out through the front fenders . (it was too tight to get the headers under the car pointing rearwards).

I imagine they would be pushed up and out board... Not exactly where they end up... It would be nice if someone who had a set of the ram air headers and a mock up engine could mount them reversed for a visual... .... .... .... .... ... SPEED SAFE, NICK |

And yes, they were $799 delivered for the pair |
