Anyone familiar?

"Oh no you didn't." "You did?" "What did it do?" " ZERO !!" " Zero oil pressure!" " you suck !" On a serious note; does it work?

Dragncar 12-21-2022 12:53 AM

Has to be hard on oil pump intermediate shaft.

. Nearly twice as hard on the cam/dizzy gearset.

Somebody had an idea they wanted to try. It would be interesting to rig it up and measure, volume, pressure and drag in that contraption. Interesting piece of history. Kind of a "solution in search of a problem" If there is one thing in a traditional Pontiac engine that needs little attention to 700+ HP, it's the stock oil pump. IMO

id like to see the inside. Interesting ...

Somebody is or was bored and had the time to cut off or mill off the upper section of a pump to stack them I bet.

X 2 with the above post.
There seems to be a bottom plate right where it should be for the stock looking upper pump set up and the drive tang end looks to be stock also and if the pumps where stacked there wound seem to be no need for a middle plate like it has, only a gasket.

Care to take it apart for use and take +'post up more photos?

This would have to be a round and round setup or a two individual pans reservoirs. Or perhaps a boat?

...if the Bottomplate was the sump pickup, to a single stage gearotor, then THAT could be an improvement.

My 2 cents:

I figured the gears are doubled (brazed together?), the bottom part is a continuation of the inside cavity. (basically double of the original).

The increase in volume would be good for racing and turns.
Also, would think the top hole (inlet) has a plug in it. (not being used)

High flow for thin oil. Maybe someone looking to get that last bit of power running 5wt oil :)

If it was for picking up oil in a circle track car or similar .. wouldn't the uncovered pickup suck up a bunch of air?

J.C.you 12-21-2022 05:49 PM

If noticed… the bottom (grafted pump) has the smaller pickup opening

Looks like it was a "Do it Yourself" version of the Pontiac Titan Oil Pump some of the NSS Pontiac Guys ran years ago. (Before the "Straight Shot" oiling crankshafts from Moldex were offered). TSE-1100 pump

Looks like an attempt to build a hi-volume pump for a Pontiac. The builder took the initiative to build an oil pump rather than sit on the Internet for twenty years and wait for Luhn to do it. If the current owner had as much initiative, he would've taken it apart and seen how it worked rather than post pictures on the Internet and accomplish little.

Who knows maybe the original builders name was Titan.

Interesting, and kinda cool. The original owner trying to solve something he thought was an issue.
As far as uncovering one of the pick ups, I believe other brands have been using 2 picks up in circle track racing without issues with sucking air

I've thought about milling old pumps to create spacers for longer gears (1/4"? 1/2"? 3/4"?) but without a test rig it's just guesswork. Split the difference between two pumps you'd have an oval (peanut?) shaped inlet. I just wanna graft things together, math maek brane hurt.

Luhn Performance and Titan have had their HP modded oil pumps out there for at least
10 years.

That is nice and a good idea. Similar to the Buick high volume kits. Butler had a deal going using an extension that bolts to a factory style Pontiac pump and used longer gears. I don't know if it ever made it past the advertising stage.

Hi Tom, we started using the Titan pumps for our hi-end Pontiac builds around 2000.
