Eagle rod bolt 1.75 vs 1.80

4.25 stroker 400 is apart and it's time to replace my 20 year old 7/16" Eagle rod bolts, they are stamped "Eagle 1.75 ARP 8740". Butler only carries 1.80 and is telling me that's a direct replacement but I'm not so sure...won't that screw up the bottom end balancing? He did measure the under head length of the 1.80s for me and said they were really about 1.77.

No worries.

It might not be a bad idea to toss a new one and old one on a scale and see what the difference is. if within a few grams, personally I wouldn't be very concerned. We are in the race section however, and if really winding the engine hard, over 7500 RPM or so, if there is a large difference in weight, you might want to make a new bob weight card and re-balance.

belt grind 0.050" away.?

Seems like a lot of work for that difference.

I would not bother fretting over it for one second.

Those H beam type Rods hold so much oil at times during one cycle in those pockets that the beam shape forms and nobody even blinks a eye about considering that when doing a balance job with H beam Rods!
