65 gto wheel tire combo

2 Attachment(s)
Looking to buy a 'day two' tire and wheel combo for my 65 GTO. I cant identify the wheels in the attached photos. They are either 15x7 or 15x8. Of course the dealer who has this car for sale doesnt know.
Any ideals?

Cragers? what am I missing? I'd guess 15X 6, maybe 16X7 in the rear. (but most likely both 6")

My guess would be 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the rear. I'm running that combo on mine right now but in Rally 1's. 215/65/15 front and 245/60/15 rears.

They are both 15 inch wheels I was seeing if anyone could guess at the width of the wheels based on the photos.

First picture is my long gone red 65 with 15x7 centerline’s front and 15x8 on back. Don’t remember tire size but do remember the front tires would rub on a hard turn.
Second picture is my 64 with 15x7 Cragars on front and back. P215/65R15 front and P235/60R15 back

Thought I had a picture of what it looks like from behind but this is all I have. Wheels were not on the car very long because I have Hurst wheels

Good looking cars Bob. Did you find new 65 yet???? It is out there somewhere..

Hi Bill no I have not found the right one yet. Thanks for the compliment both cars and a boat are keeping me busy.

Thanks for the info, looks like what is on your 64 is what I am looking for.

geeteeohguy 10-03-2021 07:14 PM

Those are Cragar SS wheels. Been in production since 1964, so period correct. Still made.

Good choice I like red line tires and they would look very nice on your car as well. This is a better picture of what the back wheel looks like from behind

Cragar S/S wheels. The typical 60-70s aftermarket wheel. The 275-60-15 on a 15-8 zero offest that fits my Impala will not fit my 65. But the same tire on a 15x8 '81 Trubo wheel with 4.5 backspace will.

Thanks for the replies. Now the trick will be to find someone with inventory. The direct drill wheels are on back order

Bob, that is a GREAT looking rear view. 2nd day all the way!!!!!!!!

That's a clean-looking car. I have the same size of wheels and tires though mine are not red lines.

on my 65 i have always run 275/60r15 on 15x7 rally two wheels on rear, and 225/70r14 up front.

I have American Racing (Ansen Sprint 15x7) on mine 225/60 x 15 all four corners. I may go wider in the back at some point.

77 TRASHCAN 10-27-2021 02:21 PM

My estimate is that they are 7" wide, and 225/70R15's.

I prefer the direct drill wheels. I had a set of uni-lugs on my 77 TA, did not like them...

Great Wheels

I bought a set of Crager's back in 1966. They are still on the car and have stayed in beautiful condition for 55 years. Goodness ,I had to do a calculation to get the years. Sad to say I am older now as well.
