Door latch clean up
Decided to post here ... this may apply to more than my year model. BTW, not a concourse, but just a driver.
'72 Lemans Sport Vert ... just removed the door latches to clean 'em up and reinstall. Cleaned up well, and I understand that white lithium sprayed in them will give them some better function. When I removed, the three screws on the door appeared to have some "white waxy" substance between the screw and door indentation. Probably to get a better water seal from water leaking in the door gap and getting inside the door (my best guess). Any ideas what the white wax substance was/is? Or any recommendations on what to put on the threads and head of the screws to get a good water seal? TIA, Ogre |
Water is going to find it's way in the door anyway. Use anti seize on the threads and call it good, so they stay lubed and come out another day.
