Bumper repair If youre brave

Dont know why my 67 rotted like this
there was no debris stuck between the reinforcement bar and bumper.
I cut out just short of any lines as to keep the lines intact.
Some areas near the cuts were still thin and had to be built up on backside as well.
I used 11 ga plate, cut to same shape using the pieces cut out as a template.
Both sides have a compound curve so I used the old pieces as a pattern to duplicate those curves.
Small magnets work to position the piece as a test fit.
End result was a pretty good shape, only minor pinholes are left which plater said will fill with copper.I have a couple more cores but neither are straight and have some rust on backside. The repaired one has the cleanest backside other than the repaired areas. The key is to match the piece removed in every way.It takes longer to fit the pieces in than it does to weld it so dont give up.

thank you

The key is to take the time making an exact copy of what you cut out.
Be very careful handling the portion removed so that its not distorted or bent.
11 gauge isnt the easiest to bend or form, but its thick enough to allow a little freedom.
