seen these on ebay...anyone tried them out?

Interesting a place called the Crankshaft Depot doesn't appear to sell crankshafts.

I know nothing about those lifters, but I have bought some brand new CAT full roller 1.7 rockers arms because they were just hilariously cheap and $96 delivered. Figured just to do some very short testing on a combo with light springs to see if the combo likes them….. The roller tip was not hardened, and they had some smoooooooth roller bearings in them, like rumble bars on a highway.

I wouldn't use them in my lawnmower.

Sounds pretty much like most CAT products…

i bought a set of their forged replacemt rods in early 2000s from kre that checked out at the machine shop but i didnt run them long enough to know how they held up. i dont think im gonna gamble with these though....guess i was hoping someone else done gambled already lol

I have had a set of CAT 4340 H beams in service for a decade +.
That said, lots of little moving parts on a roller lifter and if one goes bad is can be a whole lot worse than a spun bearing.
Pay 1000$ for BAMs and be done with it.
A rod you can have both ends checked out. A SR lifter is a different deal.

I would make sure any solid roller lifter has a pin oiling feature.
Oil coming from the oil band to the needle bearings.
Delivers more oil to critical , high load area for improved cycle life.

the doug herberts are the same as tbe howards arent they?...i was looking at pontiac speedshop and he stocks alot of howards stuff.

Just last night in my class we finally gave up on a CAT branded crankshaft for a Small Block Ford. For gosh sakes, it's just a hunk of metal made to work in one of the most popular engine platforms next to a small block Chevy. By the time we cut the counterweights to clear the pistons, reground it to make it round and added back almost 300 grams of mallory metal to it usable, the student could buy a Molnar crankshaft. I personally would not use anything from CAT even if they were free. Look at the way the tie bar is attached to the lifter body. Extremely weak looking joint. The lifter body is cut down so deep, what's that all about? This is not the place to save a couple bucks. JMO.

Extremely low price means the quality is just that.

Why bother?

Valve springs, rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, and even retainers and locks are among the most highly stressed components in any internal combustion engine.

Not a place to skimp !

I ran Herberts solid rollers for well over 1,000 runs and no issues

I also been buying my rollers from Butler and haven't had any problems.
