About Goodmark hood hinges

If someone bought a set from NPD and the hinges seem to do the job, but the springs are weak! My steel '67 Bird hood drops about a foot or so below fully open.

If you’re sure there are no mechanical/manufacturing issues with the hinges themselves, then either the springs don’t have the right spring rate or the wrong springs were installed.

My 69 & 74 parts catalog shows the 67 F-body used spring #3848272. Several sets of these NOS springs are listed on “the” auction site. Aftermarket springs are available but you might end up with the same thing you already have.

I purchased new hinges from Ames as my originals were worn and the hood couldn't be aligned. Was able to get the hood aligned once the new hinges were installed but then the hood would drop about a foot when opened. So I bought new springs from Ames and there was no difference. Hood still drops.

Never did with my old hinges and springs.

Send your original hinges and springs to Rowland Hall, in California, for restoration. They will come back like new. Very inexpensive. You won't be sorry. I wasn't!!!

I'm not much of a believer in repop parts, and don't normally promote them. But last summer, I had a guy's '65 GTO at my house for some repairs. He needed hood hinges and I ordered a set from Ames. They are EXCELLENT!! The rivets are correct and the phosphate plating was too...I'm not sure who is making them for Ames, but they're quite good, which is VERY unusual for a repop....more often than not I'm disappointed cuz everything seems to be "close, but no cigar"

X2 on Rowland. If I had another set of originals I needed done I would send them to him. I gave the repro ones to a friend .

I ordered a set of springs from Rock Auto for my 68. Worked very well.
