More on pushrod length

After searching and reading threads n posts on pushrod geometry I still don't have a definitive answer what to go with.

I did the Straub method. Then rolled the engine over with the Straub method pushrod, and then with a stock. The 'Straub' pushrod is about 3/8" longer with a very narrow pattern close to the exhaust side. Stock is wider, but centered.

You should use the length that gives the best pattern (stock length) even though it is a different length than using the Straub method. I always start with the Straub method and adjust as necessary to get the best pattern.

The question would be: "Which is the best pattern?" Some of the archived threads I've read state the narrowest pattern even if it is off center. Others state as centered as possible even if it is not the narrowest.I could go with a pr half way between stock and the Straub. that would narrow up the stock looking pattern and move the Straub pattern closer to center.
