window regulator rivets
when did Pontiac use rivets to install the window regulators
|
My Best >>> GUESS<< is they started in '77 based on cars I have and have owned.
|
I'll rephrase it, did they ever not use rivets?

Yup, my 72 are bolted in too. I figured all the 70s stuff was, I know the 80s I had to drill out the rivets. I wonder if the change over was the around the same time GM started putting rivets in the carb choke coils.

I can attest to having to bang out rivets for later 1970's stuff.
I actually got fairly proficient at it. |
I just had a look at some manuals, not terribly specific. Early models refer to bolts, whereas the 78 manual refers to both rivets and bolts for different models as they started creeping in with their cheap alternatives! The only saved photos I have that show riveted regulators are all manual windows, and unknown years, but not sure if that is telling of anything either.

I have a set of 77 loaded doors, RIVETS.
I have an '80 Bird, manual doors. RIVETS. I have '70,'71,'72,'73,'74, '75 doors.. POWER and Manual.. >>>> BOLTS. |
My '79 window regulators and lock actuators are both riveted.
