Carter AFB

Whenever I restore an AFB, the screws, levers, and rods are bare steel. Can someone post a picture or describe to me what color they were plated when new?

I would like to do them correctly, rather than guess.

Right now, I"m doing one for a nice '62 303 HP Bonneville.

They were clear cad plated almost exclusively. The cad looks silver out of the tank but oxidizes to a dull gray after a time. Sometimes a component or three will have a goldish tint to it which to me looks like the batch it was part of had a gold irridite (or whatever they put on top of the cad to make it gold cad) put on it. I am not the expert Carbking is but. Here are a couple of pictures of a NOS Pontiac application AFB.

Thank you. I believe you're right. The steel parts were nearly all plated bright silver, including the airhorn screws.
