70 manual drum brake master cylinder rebuild kit needed

Does anyone know where to get a 70 GTO manual drum brake master cylinder ebuild kit? Seems to be difficult to find, has a 1 inch bore. Thanks

Very surprised to run into this situation with all the repro parts out there for just about anything. I dont think manual drums are rare but maybe im wrong.. Would be easy to get a new master cylinder but tying to keep my car original.

I've bought both Raybestos and Wagner kits from Rock Auto. I don't have the numbers handy right now.

another option, sending it out to White Post to have it sleeved and rebuilt. they provide a lifetime warranty I believe

My ‘71 has manual drum. I got mine from NAPA, but they did have to order it. This was a few years back now though. I too wanted to save my original master.

nothing at NAPA or rock auto unless i want to buy a remanufactured one

Boy do I feel old. I can’t find a master cylinder rebuild kit for your car or mine. Depressing.

Raybestos kit MK497

Thanks much for all the help, I purchased the one rare4k posted. I guess ill spend more time doing my searches on Ebay next time. The Raybestos kit looks like it would work also. Not sure if Raybestos still makes them, if they do not these will be getting harder and harder to find. Not something NAPA or Autozone can get.

I'm having a heck of a time finding a good one for my 68 all manual drum.

Appears no one is producing them anymore.

Is that the kit for the ‘71 also? Manual drum all around.

yes. it's correct for 67-72 drums, either manual or power as the master is the same in these applications.

Thanks!
Just tried to order one, said it was “in stock”. After I placed the order I get an email saying it’s on back order? Nice.
I’ll look for one online when I get off of work I guess.

67drake 01-19-2022 07:15 PM

OK.
Having trouble finding one now. I’ve placed 2 orders from places that say they have it in stock, and then it turns out they don’t have it in stock.
Where do you guys order from?
Thanks!

Did you find a kit? I need that MK497 too.

67drake 01-29-2023 03:14 PM

No, I never found one. :(
