1970 L78 dual snorkel air cleaner (non-RA)

I'm looking for a correct dual snorkel air cleaner.
Application: L78 in a 1970 Formula, Norwood built, non-CA emissions, air conditioning.
Line code for the air cleaner should be RM.

I'm looking for advice on how to ID the correct one. I'll be hunting for one tomorrow.
Thanks

----------------
Additional details below:
I'm currently running a 1973 dual snorkel air cleaner, drop base, black lid, one heat duct on driver side, hole with grommet for carb vent. It fits well with a Quadrajet. Fits, but not as well, with Holley spread bore carb.

For years I thought the chrome lid was lost/stolen from the previous owner, and that the base was the original 1970. Recently I found the date stamp of 1973 on the base. So my lid and base fit, but are wrong for 70. I want to find a correct 1970 drop base dual snorkel (code RM) air cleaner.

To learn exactly what I should be looking for, I've read some dual snorkel threads here including Jonny's list of 5 types.

Assuming the "Keep your car all GM" label with line code is missing, what are the identifying characteristics for this dual snorkel application?

--One or two heat tubes? Which side(s)?
--Vent hole with rubber block off plug? Or solid metal there?
--How far apart is the valve cover breather tube hole from pass. side snorkel?
--Are the AutoThermAC units, vacuum lines, routing specific?
--Is there usually a date stamp? Where is it located?
--Anything else?

One heatriser on drivers side. 1 1/2" drop base. Routing was specific to that aircleaner, ink stamp was near the flat spot with the vent hole. Many original aircleaners the ink stamp has been painted over.

The pic in post 16 posted 2 years ago is a '70-72 D port dual snorkel Formula base.

70 F-body bases may not have the hole for the bowl vent early in 70 production. I've had quite a few of the Formula dual snorkel aircleaners, but several were picked up off boneyard shelves & at swappers & were not easy to pinpoint model year. I have had at least two 70's with a molded plastic nipple type plug which was used in the vent hole. Have also ran across these on later 70 model production A-GP dual snorkel aircleaners. With the small plug popped out, the same aircleaner base was used on CA emission 70 Qjets. If you need further pics or measurements, feel free, drop me a PM.

1973 did not have a dual snorkel air cleaner.
The one in the link is not an RM air cleaner, because of the carb. vent hole (I think RO?!?).
This is what they look like...
very clean ones will be missing things like the chrome lid and sensor and still people will want a lot of money for them.

I sent a few of these to "Tach Rev" which converted them to R/A base pans which use a stock air cleaner.
Here is a close up date stamp I found.

unless you're worried about points judging, any 70-72 F-body dual snorkle air cleaner will be perfect for you.

The 1971 L78-400(4bbl) & L75-455(4bbl) & 1972 L78-400(4bbl) air cleaners are (as far as I know) exactly the same unit that a 1970 Van Nuys car would have recieved - they only differ by the hole for the quadrajet airhorn breather tub (which you can plug with an available part).

I do believe that they are reproduced, but do not know if those come with the heat riser stuff installed.

Good luck!

The attached images are a comparison of a 1970 A/G-body air cleaner, and a 1971/1972 F-body air cleaner.

My air cleaner is ink stamped inside, to the left of the vent hole:
7. 5. 73

(Phone inserts the periods)

If no dual snorkels were installed in 1973, could mine be a service replacement?

I'm seeing plenty of GTO dual snorkels. No Firebirds.

is your air cleaner a dual snorkle?

The dual snorkle aircleaners were killed after 1972 (iirc) because of vehicle drive by noise laws - or something to that effect;
The pre-73 air cleaners will not actually fit over a post-72 quadrajet, as the Pontiac Quadrajets received starting in 1973 a hot air choke mechanism attached to the fuel bowl - as opposed to the divorced setup used in 1972 & prior.

All the 1973+ air cleaners have a hump to allow space for the hot air choke mechaism, and the single snorkle attached to ducting that drew cool outside air from the drivers side fender.

small correction on my earlier post;
I recalled taking those pictures last summer, but it looks like I was mistaken in regards to which air cleaners were pictured;

Those are BOTH 1970 air cleaners.

To me, it looks like 7 5 71.

Posting another area of stamp. Also a '70 with the carb. vent hole and a '72.

Just collaborating with previous posts.
No production dual snorkels after 1972.

In 73 they went to an oval single snork that had a plastic adapter to mate up to a round flexible hose .

If you have a dual snork with drop base and humped to clear the distributor , you are doing fine.
And if you find any like that with later date stamps - don't be deterred by that - grab them !

Grab all the 2nd Gen F-body drop base breathers you find except the offset 403 Olds version.
Even if its for a camaro
Lotta folks need 4bbl breather set ups after they convert a 2bbl car.
