I was going to wait until it was home, but since this is at the top of the page I’ll say that I’ve all but purchased a 2001 Porsche 911.
It is still at the dealer in California getting some small items fixed. I got them to come down a few thousand in price and get fix some things to make the deal. Has 144k on it but had a full engine and transaxle rebuilt less than 10k miles ago. That and the color were the big selling points for me. In all my looking it was the only rainforest green car I saw. A few small speed parts. Plenum and exhaust. Things like that. Perhaps of interest to the group, the thing that threw me the most while doing my research. Specific to Porsche but probably similar across many of these types of cars. Unless your ride is forced induction, bolt ons are pretty weak for these. Apparently from the factory the NA 911 engines are already super high in VE so there just isn’t a bunch you can do. The bang for the buck just isn’t there like it is for American v8s. I didn’t notice it at first but I think it’s telling that everytime Porsche wanted more power they increased displacement. |
I like the color, I've never seen one in that shade before. Are they going to ship the car, or will you fly out and drive it home?

She generally tolerates my hobby and spending habits on it, but you gotta pick your battles. But yeah the color was a huge selling point for me. I didnt want a sports car in a boring color. Im having a hard time finding released production numbers by color, but near as I can tell thats a 1% or so color. I think it read that it was an upcharge so it just wasnt ordered much. Seems that there were 3 silver cars built for 1 of any other color. Interesting note. When I read the carfax it had a strange DMG report. Showing damage in every angle, but saying minor. Turns out that the owner reported all the rock chips and other minor wear from 15 years of life and had the whole thing repainted under insurance. Which Ive never heard of. Seems like you would have to be friends with the adjuster. |
Nice choice. Hope it serves you well.

That's a shiny object..
Beautiful car |
Awesome- glad you found what you were looking for. I like the color as well and have never seen one like it.

Thanks guys. Im super fired up about it. I cant wait to take some really incongruous pictures of it sandwiched in my garage between my 67 and my rusty 1952 gasser project. Maybe with my even rustier WWII Jeep peeking in from outside.

Congrats, looks nice. Interested in hearing about your ownership experience.

Love the color...best of luck, I'm sure you will enjoy.

That's a sharp looking 996. Great color, and the wheels are perfect for it.

Or hail damage Congrats on the car Color looks good on it |
Nice car, i'm sure you'll enjoy cruising around with the mutt (and perhaps the GF as well) by your side.
Now powdercoat those wheels a gold colour and you're all set (well that may be just my weird taste in cars). |
