I was just cleaning up in the kitchen when I looked out in the backyard and saw this. I checked in my bird book and the nearest bird size wise and in this area (Wisconsin) seems to be a Merlin. I thought maybe a Peregrine Falcon but the facial markings seem different and the size is larger. It appears he was having a small rabbit for dinner.

That is a neat looking Bird , and stout .
Don't think i have ever known about a Merlin Bird before .
Would be cool to have one of those around just for the sight of it.

Had a Redwing Hawk swoop into my front yard today and got something.
Have owls in my forest but rarely see them. Just hear them.

The dish is downunder in a town called Parks and was a critical part of the moon landing, apollo 11 ,myself and my wife are one a road trip of over 1200 miles in 6 days.
Nothing like cruising at 60mph on back roads with no traffic except road trains, kangaroos, emus and flattened foxes to avoid.

I drove my CJ-7 to Virginia Beach the other day to do some shopping. I was on HWY 64 & 264 running with the pre rush hour traffic, like I was driving my 2020 JLU. The new engine can run 65-75 on the freeway with no problem. I recently installed a new steering gear for a Hummer H1 with variable ratio, and replaced the intermediate steering shaft & lower steering column bearing, all of which were old and well worn since it was manufactured in 1985. It drives and steers like a new Jeep now, literally.

On the way home I took the back roads to avoid rush hour traffic. I folded the windshield down after stopping at the 7-11 in Pungo. It was a very different driving experience, not so great when driving 40-50, but a lot of fun at slower speeds.

I can’t wait to fold it down when I take it out trail riding one day, that should be fun.

Is that on 64 west of Zebulon?

No where near Zebulon, NC. 64 goes around Norfolk, and 264 goes through Norfolk, in my neck of the woods (Moyock).

A year before the Kilauea major eruption/lava flow changed the landscape of the eastern side of Hawaii.
The first pic is the caldera at the summit. The next is what was happening at the shoreline. The second pic is not mine, it is my wife's with my 'good' camera. I was too chickensh!!t to do the boat tour. The water in that vicinity was 180* F. You fall in, and the cannibals fish you out as you'd be cooked.

When I visited Australia 12 years ago we went to a facility with several buildings and dishes that NASA uses. Is that one part of that complex?

NASA has a few facilities downunder along with other agencies, the outback is where they try to hide them spy ones.

I took these a week ago at a "cottage" in Earleville, MD. My daughter rented it for a family get together. I would sit outside and watch the bald eagles. This is one of the pictures that I got of one of them.
