It's a beauty for sure. Great story too! Glad to hear it's staying in the family. It sounds like you've looked at most the popular places, but it is my understanding that behind the door panels is probably the #1 spot. Also, PHS can provide you with a copy of the broadcast sheet if all else fails. Definately post more pic's and underhoods when you get the time. We love seeing these gems.

Greg:

You had this car at Baker's in Milford two summers ago for the Car Craft magazine story as I recall. It was a little rough but there and all yours. We spoke for a little bit that day. Hope all is going well with the car. Feel free to communicate with us if you ever need any help or have any questions. I'm not far from you.

That was me. I have done some work to it. I want to keep it as original as possible. At that show the right front flare was off the car. Since then I have repaired it and re-installed it and it looks great.

I keep going back and forth on persuing a restoration or not. There are days I want to do it, then I remind myself how much it would actually cost and I tell myself, "not yet".. I know the car is worth doing a restoration on, but its not in bad shape at all.

I was going to go to Trans Am Nationals last year in 2006, but all of the rain changed my plans. How many Super Duties show up to it on average? I check out the website but I really cant tell by those generic photos. I will definatly be going next year if its a Sunny weekend...

Brewster 01-15-2007 06:05 PM

I didnt make the Nationals last year but will be there this year (already booked it).
I did hear that the Formula SD's where high in numbers, but on the norm I'd say five to ten duties show up for the event.
It rains out the Tipp City run 50 percent of the time so bring a cover.

johnta1 01-16-2007 11:17 AM

Brewster, or anyone, do you know a Chris Hicklin?
He has/had a Formula SD about 20 years ago when I met him at a few POCI events.

toomanybirds 01-16-2007 02:28 PM

I remember Chris. He had a Buccaneer red, saddle interior 73 Formula SD. Automatic trans with air conditioning. He lived in South Florida on the gulf side.

Last I knew, the car was owned by some one in New York, I think it might have been Melvin Benzequez.

johnta1 01-16-2007 02:38 PM

Thanks, toomanybirds.
His was the first Formula SD I ever saw. It was a beautiful car.

Brewster 01-16-2007 06:54 PM

That is a combo I'd remember for sure but no I have not met Chris or seen that Formula.
Will keep my eyes open though next time Im in Fort Myers Beach area.
Later,
Brew

Whats the correct letter on a Superduties Crank?

superdutybob 01-27-2007 12:19 AM

Brew:

The casting number ends in 103 like all early 455 cranks.

sdbob 01-27-2007 03:15 PM

Finally I took the plunge and registered the SD on the registry.I had talked to both Jack Janney and Frank Gatarz but never took the plunge.I still have their paper forms.

Brewster 01-28-2007 09:26 AM

Wow, this market is still moving!

Ebay 1974 automatic SD in the high seventies ???????????? will it reach the 80K's for a semi correct restored car?

superdutybob 01-28-2007 09:39 AM

I sure hope so!

It's all in the color combo. Blue with the white is just striking, especially out in the sun.

The car needs a lot of work to be really right on. It has several of the owners personal touches in it.

Brewster 01-28-2007 10:54 AM

Yeah, you can see the car isnt all original but Im not going to start picking like Dick said earlier.

Sweet car either way!

sdbob 01-30-2007 06:33 PM

Johnta1,I emailed you back not sure if you received my response.Let me know Bob.
