Thanks !

Yes I am looking on the bay for Nos, but I guess if they show up they will be to much for my wallet..

So in a couple of months I will place an order for a set of repro's.
I have not decided if I should go for the ones with or with out the Delco stamp and if I should dat stamp them my self, any thoughts about it here ?

Peje 12-17-2011 04:48 PM

Hi Loffen! Do what other seems to practice,do your own stamp or restamp!

Loffen 12-18-2011 11:12 AM

I did some cocking today..

And here is the result, just out and dipped in WD40..

Ok I wanted to show you the differences between the two solutions I use to get the gray phosphate but my camera and light is just to bad.
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMGP2696.jpg

Here you have the alternator bracket and the more or less famous flash rust vent tube from PY
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMGP2697.jpg
The vent tube is spot on and the alternator bracket needs another dip
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/.../IMGP2701s.jpg

Here is my "Big" tank, holds 6 gallons now, more than enough.
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMGP2699.jpg

And on a low budget, I wonder when my X will start to ask about her fryer..;)
It heats up the solution to 180-190 f easy.

From what I understand, the 71-74 (and maybe other later years) alternator brackets are black zinc plated. That looks pretty close.

Yes, that is correct, and they are pretty close now, in real life they are some where between the picture 3 posts up and the post under, also the vent tube and the other parts are a bit lighter than shown on the pictures.

But I am getting there :)

And last, the frame... it has been snowing cats and dogs here the last couple of days, I will try to get it blasted to morrow but.... well we will see..

Lloyd-TX 12-19-2011 07:26 PM

Sure is lookin' fine, Loffen!

I applaud your attention to detail and correctness!

Loffen 12-19-2011 08:34 PM

Thank you Lloyd, your feedback means a lot to me :)

And everybody else to, good and bad, and most important when I do something wrong, then at least I will have a chance to correct it or go my own way..(I am thinking of the brake caliper,it was really painted black.. :o )

I call 'em like I see 'em, my friend.

Keep up the awesome work, and Merry Christmas to you.

So finally I got started on the frame, we had a pretty bad storm here and most people was without electricity, phone and internet for two days, I was lucky and just did loose it for 27 hours...

So here it is almost done
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMG_5027.jpg

I have to show you what it is like here, the mountain in the background rises to 14-1500 meters (46-4900 ft) abowe sea level.
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMG_5032.jpg

Now it is in the paintboot, more pictures tomorrow.

Right side under the front window....... I guess that no rust on a 40 year old car would be to good to be true....

If any of you have a partscar with the cowl intact I would be VERY interested to buy it from you

The left side is not so bad
http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMGP2230.jpg

I got a cowl of a 72 lemans sitting outside my garage, shall check how good it is

Scarebird 12-28-2011 07:57 PM

Shipping from Roar should not be that bad...

Found a 71 Lemans in the local pick-n-pull; some clown snapped up a pristine dash and put it on craigslist. I did get a nice front bumper and core support, with a serviceable hood. Cowl should be nice.

sure did, Having it shipped. hope it's as nice as he said it is.

Scarebird 12-28-2011 09:18 PM

I was having a tough time justifying 200 scoots for a spare unit, but seems that is now moot.

Tell him his ad is still up...

I guess I will hear from Roar in a day or two and it will for sure save me some in shipping.

But if it for some reason does not work out could you take the trouble to check out how much it would cost me to get the one in the pick-n-pull ?

Will need the outside panel from the window and down to the middle of the vent and could do with the right half.

And I have a US shipping address, no hassle with shipping to Norway.

I will start on the body around february/march, the next couple of weeks will be chassis work and then I will tear down the engine and hopefully have a complete rolling chassis ready for the body in the beginning of april.
