I just posted a rear defog (grid style) switch in the gto for sale. I think it will fit. It looks like it taps into the the fusebox and runs a wire back to the window. PM me for pics

Red carpet was a specific option. For specific interiors you could spec it. Not sure of all the possible color combos.

I used to own a 72 gp exactly like yours. I still have the build sheet somewhere. nothing was mentioned about presidential edition. it did mention the red carpet however.
